Music
At St. Andrew’s, we believe that music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. It is a unique way of communicating and is a medium for personal expression and development. Music reflects culture and society and its teaching enables our children to better understand the world in which they live, developing a curiosity in a range of diverse and enriching cultures. We believe that a high quality, ambitious music education should engage and inspire our pupils to develop a love for music and develop their self-confidence and creativity as musicians. We encourage our children to develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to listen and appraise, compose and perform and evalute their work with knowledge and understanding. Music is interwoven into the fabric of our school from EYFS to Year 6 and is a powerful tool in developing our children emotionally, socially and spiritually.
